You may want to update your color scheme in your house, especially if you are considering placing it on the market. Because certain color schemes date themselves. We all remember the emerald green and pastel pink combinations popular a decade ago. Who can forget the harvest gold and avocados of the 70’s? Each decade and each generation is dated in history with not only it’s memories but also it’s own accent colors. Perhaps it is time for you to make your own mark.
But before you do, here are some considerations you might want to run through before you make any dedicated choices:
1. What is your purpose for redecorating? Your color preference and what is popular currently as decorating trends may well be two different things. And that is no problem at all unless you are trying to update your color scheme in order to make your home attractive in the re-sale market. Research what is popular in the marketplace today.
2. What flavor are you trying to incorporate in the room? For example, in your living room, you may want this to be a formal place that you only use when entertaining or you may want to use your living room for entertaining, watching television and reading, etc. Color plays an important role in suggesting the functionality and ambiance of the living space.
3. How much lighting and what light sources do you have in the room?
4. What style are you trying to accomplish? ( Contemporary, Victorian, Country etc.)
5. What type of mood and look do you want to express in each of the spaces to be redecorated?
